Ground Protection Mats

During winter trucks and diggers will churn up grass and soil and create a huge mud mess. Sure you can use plywood but how long is that really going to last under loaded up trucks and we all know truck tyres just slip on ply once its muddy. Or you can reinstate the area once your project is done, all at a cost however.

Ground protection mats are so easy to use and will save you a ton of money by avoiding damage and saving time getting trucks unstuck. These mats can carry up to 80 ton so weight is not an issue.

Our charges are basic, $1.80 + GST per mat per day (minimum one week). No part day charges. Pick them up or we can deliver them.

$5 + GST will be charged if the mats come back with chunks of mud or layer of mud on them. Please give them a hose down before returning them.

Below is some additional information about our road mats:

Set up INSTRUCTIONS

The mud mats are a piece of cake to set up when following the basic instructions below:

Step 1: Lay a mat down on the ground where your temporary roadway will start.

Step 2: Insert one side of the connector into the holes located in the corners of the mat. If you're setting up two separate tracks (ie. a mat width each with a gap in the middle) use the single connectors, if you're setting up a double width track (ie. two mats connectors together like the photo below) use the double connectors along the middle join.

Step 3: Place the second mats short edge up against the short edge of the mat already on the ground. Lift the second mat up to around a 45 to 60 degree angle and either support it with a stake or have someone hold it. Slip the connectors other side into the same holes on the second mat.

Step 4: Lay the mat down on the ground. Repeat for however many mats you need to fit together to form your temporary roadway.

Alternatively, many of our customers just overlap the ends of the mats rather than fitting them together with the connectors. This is much quicker and makes it easier to move any of the mats if needed, however the downside is you lose a small amount of length.
